The power of a "blink"
I am currently reading a book "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" by Malcom Gladwell. In the book, the author talks about our conscious and unconscious part of our brain. How sometimes we come to a conclusion about something but unable to explain why we think that way or something. The authors also note how judgement with too much considerations can be tricky, compared to the one made in just a blink. He raised some famous example to support his arguments. I haven't finished the book yet; however, I've been thinking about this quite often. When it comes to making a decision, I usually give lots of time and thoughts about the matter; I weight pros and cons, and explore other alternatives. I wonder, while reading "Blink" if I am, too, making things complicated with all my thoughts. Can a decision made in a blink of consideration work better than the one a result of thorough consideration. Won't it be too risky to decide in just a "blink"? Aren't we taught not to rush into things or do not "judge the book by its cover?". That seems a lots of doubts about this power of a "blink". After all, I have lots more of the book to discover, maybe there are answers to these questions somewhere. Stay tuned!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Just now, I am watching Friends Series for like hundred times. I guess everyone would love to have a circle of friends like those New Yorkers, someone who unconditionally stay by your side no matter what happen or someone who is always ready to forgive you or support you in every of your pursuit. For me, I feel very blessed for having been surrounded by my own circle of wonderful folks, who fully respect the real me and like the way I am ; rather than someone perfect without flaws. We've been friends since junior high, and undoubtedly our friendship grew stronger and stronger, thanks to all the sweet and bittersweet memories we've been building together; even though, we are now taking our own path in life. It is like our friendship is already saturated and no matter how long we've been away from each other, we still can feel the closeness.
At the same time, I am also wondering about many others who I have met at different points in my life. How many people have I been acquainted with so far, for this past 21 years? How many I still keep in contact with? How many have I spent few weeks, few days or maybe few hours with; yet never to meet again for the rest of my life? What is it like to befriend with someone and the idea that you might not see that person again for the rest of your life just click in. Isn't it pathetic for us human beings? Wouldn't it be wondeful if the world was smaller and everyone knows and is friend with each other. But then the world wouldn't be diversified which is even worse.
I've been thinking lots about people I have met and befriended with, but never get to strengthen our relationship to a point of saturation. For all the people I met in schools, or on various occasions, the wonderful I met while I attended exchange programs abroad, all these people, how many of them will I ever see again? How many would live in my memory for eternity? And how many would vanish from my head as time goes by? That's damn lots of questions to think about.
